With great sadness, we report the loss of one of our stellar Global Women in Management (GWIM) alumni. Elisabeth Kelly passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 19 due to complications brought about by very high blood pressure. We first met Elisabeth in March 2014 as one of the participants of our first country-level GWIM in Papua New Guinea. One of 26 women leaders at the workshop, she stood out because of her unmistakable smile.

“There is no higher expectation than being who you are, recognizing your values, your strengths and weaknesses and working as a group on how you can change your weaknesses,” explains Tina Andriamahefa, Founder and Fundraising and Partnership Manager at Youth First in Madagascar, about what sets the CEDPA Global Women in Management (GWIM) workshop apart from others. Tina is one of 28 women leaders from 21 countries participating in the 60th CEDPA GWIM.

“I was often thought of as crazy,” said Jukuli Kapiako, CEDPA Global Women in Management (CEDPA GWIM) participant from the Hela Province in Papua New Guinea, also known as PNG. “Where I come from in Tari, our people were thought of as scary, because we had long skinny arms and legs and big bellies. I now know we were malnourished.”

With great sadness, we deliver the heartbreaking news that we have lost one of our exceptional alumni, Blessed Edim Uwatt. Blessed succumbed to a sudden illness on December 1, 2013. Our hearts are heavy from the loss when we remember the joy, laughter and inspiration that exuded from her soul.
